Should you need to notify our team about an emergency, the emergency buttons are linked to our central emergency response center. These options are available in the following places: 

  • In all accessible washrooms, you will find emergency buttons that are easy to reach and push.
  • Each elevator includes an emergency call system with a two-way voice communication capability. 
  • Courtesy phones are located throughout the terminals and parking garages with direct connection to our team. 
  • In all inter-terminal train cars, there is an emergency call button.
  • On all escalator and moving sidewalks, there are emergency buttons. 

If there is an emergency and an evacuation is required, we have the following procedures in place: 

  • There are public announcements relating to safety or security inside the terminal, in an audio and visual format. There are also strobe lights in key locations that will notify you in a visual format that an evacuation is necessary. 
  • To assist in evacuation, we use lift chairs, also known as EVAC-CHAIRS. These are an innovative emergency stair chair solution that permits the safe egress of persons with disabilities or mobility restrictions from a building in the event of an emergency or evacuation.
  • We employ the use of Ambulift, also known as Medical Lift, specifically designed to ensure the most safe and efficient serviceability for passengers on stretchers to and from the aircraft where there are no passenger boarding bridge . Passengers are taken on board with the lift at ground level and can be comfortably transferred from the Medical Lift into the aircraft.
  • For passengers who require wheelchair assistance when there are no passenger boarding bridge, we use AVI-Ramps that go from the aircraft door to the ramp.
  • During an emergency to assist person who are deaf or hard of hearing, we have visual translation services with American Sign Language accessible to our airport first responders.
