Baggage

Before your journey

The most important tips we can give you before you take off:

  • Know where your bags are going – when you check-in for your first flight, make sure you ask if you need to pick up your bags at any of your connections stops or if your bags will be meeting you at your final destination.
  • Know the baggage requirements for all connecting flights – your flight(s) into and out of Pearson may have different requirements for checked-in and carry-on baggage. Check with your airline for the baggage requirements.

Picking up your bags at Pearson

To retrieve your checked luggage, go to the baggage carousel for your flight number. Your airline's team will unload and transfer all checked baggage to the appropriate carousel after you land.

When will your bags be ready?

You can check on the status of your baggage and find out where to pick it up in your flight arrival guide. Select your flight number to access the guide.

Luggage carts

You can use one of our free luggage carts to transport your luggage through Pearson Airport.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage

Your airline is responsible for handling and delivering your bags - they will help you if your baggage is lost, delayed or damaged during your flight. Contact your airline

Dropping off your bags for your connecting flight

If your bag is tagged to your next or final destination, you may need to pick up your bags and place them on the connection drop-off belt. If it is not tagged to your next or final destination, then you will definitely need to pick up your bags and check them in for your next flight.

Airline rules and fees

Each airline has its own rules around the checked baggage size, weight and number of bags allowed for each traveller. Many airlines charge for checked baggage or limit the number of bags you can take on board.

Your connecting flight may have different baggage requirements than your first flight.

Check with the airline to find out their baggage requirements and limitations.

Wheelchairs, mobility aids and strollers

Your airline may allow you to check and pick up strollers, wheelchairs and other mobility aids at the aircraft door. Please check with your airline directly.
