GTAA Strategic Sourcing team wins procurement award

We are proud to share that the Strategic Sourcing team at the GTAA is the category winner of the Mid-size Enterprise Award at the 2022 World Procurement Awards!

The specific category won was about showcasing a complex team transformation and the challenges that were faced along the way. In our team’s case, this included a complete redesign of the organizational and cultural process, eventually needing to adjust to and navigate through the pandemic while still supporting airport operations, key GTAA initiatives and delivering value. None of this would have been possible without a shared vision, diverse talent and, most of all, an engaged and supportive team.

“In the past, GTAA’s Strategic Sourcing team was a mostly transactional function, hampered by inflexible rules and struggling to collaborate with other functions to deliver greater value. But by restructuring the team, providing new training opportunities, overhauling its processes and implementing new initiatives such as supplier relationship management and a sustainable procurement programme, the team has transformed into a trusted partner that works collaboratively with stakeholders across the contract lifecycle. Judges praised the function’s ‘Value. Innovation. Efficiency.’ vision and the ambitious scale of the transformation,” read the team’s award entry overview.

The Judge’s feedback is a great endorsement of our progress. “An impressive story of a turning around procurement’s influence and moving from transactional to strategic. The team has a wonderful vision, a collaborative nature and are committed to Value, Innovation and Efficiency which is helping them deliver impactful results,” read the feedback. “The team’s ability to pivot and the scale like they did is awesome,” said one of the judges.

We sincerely thank the whole team who made this win possible – it is a testament to all their hard work, collaborative efforts and dedication.
