We are honoured to share that today, Terminal 1 will be getting a very unique and meaningful piece of art installed, named Humanity. It will be on display until May 31. The inspiration behind Humanity came to Masai Ujiri, founder of Giants of Africa and Vice-Chairman and President of the Toronto Raptors, from Nelson Mandela’s legacy of fighting for equality. Representing peace, togetherness, youth and diversity, the artwork uses light to create a ripple effect with its words, symbolizing the need to spread more humanity. It is driven by a vision to come together as one people—without bias, prejudice and injustice. “I wanted to put a symbol up to remind people that we should think of others and we should be kind to others all the time,” said Ujiri of the one-of-a-kind piece.

The installation of Humanity in our terminal is symbolic of this philosophy.
You might have seen the art structure on display at its two previous locations in downtown Toronto at Maple Leaf Square and in front of Union Station. The 8-foot-high steel structure, lit up from the inside, is made up of 35 words that reflect what humanity means to Masai Ujiri. It acts as a reminder to all that we still have great work to do to reach the day where everyone is treated equally.
