Press release

June 12, 2020

TORONTO, ONTARIO – Safety has always been, and will continue to be, the top priority of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. It is with sadness that we are cancelling the 2020 Runway Run, which raises money to support the Propeller Project, Toronto Pearson’s community investment program. This decision has been made in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the steps required to maintain public health and safety standards.

As an organization that is committed to supporting its community, we are confident that this is the right decision, because it puts the safety of our neighbours, airport workers and passengers first. The Runway Run is a time to meet and celebrate the community that makes our region strong, vibrant and welcoming. We will miss having the opportunity to enjoy this day with you.

We are very grateful to our runners, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors and partner organizations for their continued support of Runway Run over the years, many of whom are members of the airport community.

We will be looking forward to 2021, where we hope to see you all with your running shoes on. Until then, keep up to date on Runway Run, community events and airport operations by following us on Facebook, Twitter (English and French) or Instagram and by signing up for our community newsletter, Checking In.
