Corporate responsibility

Environmental sustainability

We are committed to protecting the natural resources and wildlife habitats around the airport. Some of our activities include:

  • Climate change initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas, which have earned level 3 reduction Airport Carbon Accreditation.
  • A permanent air quality monitoring station.
  • Electric charging stations for our electric fleet vehicles, and also in our employee parking lots.
  • Waste recovery and management initiatives including recycling, stormwater management and glycol recovery from the glycol used to deice planes.
  • Specially trained officers who manage the wildlife using falcons to control the birds in the area, ethical trapping and wildlife manipulation.
  • On-site bee hives that support food security and sustainable agriculture in the surrounding area.

Community programs and events

We believe that we have an important role to play in community life. Being a good neighbour means balancing the diverse, and sometimes competing, priorities of passengers, employees and neighbours.

Our community relations program is a critical tool in building awareness and understanding about the airport and responding to key questions.

To connect with our communities, we host public forums, airside tours and volunteer opportunities. The Propeller Project provides funding and support to get great neighbourhood-building initiatives off the ground.

Economic growth

As a premier global hub, we need to keep pace with needs of international travellers, local and national communities and our employees. Learn more about how we support regional employment, connectivity and economic growth, and increasing demand for air travel.

Reporting

We publish a variety of reports, briefing papers and brochures, all available online as PDFs, or to order as printed documents. You can find out more about our programs and policies by reading our 2018 Annual Report, or browse other key publications and reports.
